Blood Pressure Isn't a Disease, It's Your Body's Intelligence at Work

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how our bodies work, and one of the most misunderstood concepts, in my opinion, is blood pressure. We're taught to fear it, to control it, and to believe that a specific number on a machine determines our health. But I've come to a very different conclusion. I believe that blood pressure is not a disease at all. Instead, I see it as a beautiful, intelligent communication system within our bodies.

To explain what I mean, let's use an analogy. Imagine our blood is a train and our body parts are railway stations.

The Heart: A Conductor, Not a Cleaner

In my view, the train we call blood starts its journey at the station we call the heart. It travels to every single "station" in our body, delivering essential goods and picking up waste. Now, many people I've spoken to believe the heart's job is to purify the blood. I don't see it that way. In my understanding, the cleaning is handled by our lungs, kidneys, and liver. The blood itself is produced in our bone marrow.

So what does the heart actually do? I believe the heart's primary role is to act as a conductor. It provides the pressure—the "push"—that keeps the train moving smoothly and efficiently throughout its long journey. It sets the pace based on the body's real-time needs.

Why I Believe Low and High BP Are Not Diseases

Consider this: after an hour of silent meditation, with no body movement, your blood pressure will naturally be very low. If low blood pressure were a disease, would that mean meditation makes us sick? Of course not. Meditation gives us incredible clarity and power.

A person in meditation with a calm circulatory system, illustrating the concept that low blood pressure is a natural state of rest, not a disease.
Now, slowly open your eyes and wave one hand. What happens? Your blood pressure will instantly increase. Why? In my view, the cells in your hand just used some energy, and they sent a message to the heart, the "mother" of the system, saying, "Mother, I've just eaten. Please send more supplies." To whatever extent the cells work, the blood pressure rises to meet that demand.

What if you run fast? Your BP will be very high. Does this mean running is a disease? If we told an Olympic athlete they had to keep their blood pressure "normal," they would never win a medal. If a dog were chasing you and you tried to keep your BP normal by running slowly, you'd get bitten!

My point is this: there is no universal "normal" for blood pressure. It is meant to be a dynamic, fluctuating force. Our body’s innate intelligence will increase or decrease our BP based on its needs from moment to moment. Trying to artificially control it, in my opinion, is a fundamental mistake. This is a core principle of my approach to holistic healing.

The Real Reason Your Blood Pressure Stays High

Some people tell me, "I understand that running raises BP, but mine was high while I was just sitting and watching TV. Why?"

Here's my perspective. I believe blood pressure is simply a measure of how many cells in your body need food and resources. This need arises for two reasons: work (like running) or healing. When a cell gets sick, it needs more resources to repair itself. To get those resources delivered quickly, it asks the heart for more pressure.

I believe that when a cell gets any kind of disease, the very first thing it will ask for is higher blood pressure. Why? Because the cure can only be delivered if the supply train is moving faster. If millions of your cells are sick, they will all ask for higher BP. The pressure will remain high from the moment the cure begins until the moment it ends. In my view, you cannot cure any disease in the body without a temporary increase in blood pressure.

So, when your BP is consistently high, even at rest, I don't believe it's a problem with your heart. I believe it's a sign that millions of cells in your body are sick and are trying to heal, but are struggling to do so.

The Five Factors I Believe Truly Control Your Health

Why would the cells struggle to heal? In my experience, it comes down to five key factors:

  1. The Quality of items in your blood.

  2. The Quantity of items in your blood.

  3. The total Quantity of blood in your body.

  4. The state of your Mind.

  5. Your Body's Innate Intelligence.

If any of these five factors are out of balance, the cells cannot get the high-quality materials they need to repair themselves. For example, if a key nutrient is of poor quality or missing from the blood, the sick cell can't complete its repairs. But it won't give up. It will keep asking the heart for more pressure, hoping the right delivery will eventually arrive. This, I believe, is the true cause of chronic high blood pressure. It is a sign of a systemic deficiency, not a disease of the heart. This understanding is central to the practice of integrative medicine.

The Trap of Controlling, Not Curing

Now, what happens when we go to a doctor for this? Often, they measure the pressure, and if it's outside a certain range, they label it a disease. They don't typically analyze why it's high. They just prescribe medicine to control it.

But think about what this medicine does. It artificially forces the heart to lower the pressure. The body, which was intelligently raising the pressure to try and heal a disease, is now being overridden. By controlling the BP, are we helping or hindering the body's efforts? I believe we are hindering it.

Think about it this way: when you start taking BP medicine, does the dosage tend to go down over time, or up? Invariably, it goes up. To me, this is a clear sign that the underlying disease in the body is getting worse, not better. A true cure would mean you eventually no longer need the medicine.

My Final Thoughts: You Are Not Your Numbers

In my view, the concept of "normal" blood pressure was largely invented for emergency situations, like surgery. During an operation, it’s critical to keep BP stable. But for daily life, it’s an irrelevant and even harmful measure.

I believe the "disease" of blood pressure begins the moment you start testing it and worrying about the numbers. The real disease is the attempt to control a natural, intelligent bodily function. The focus should not be on forcing the pressure down with drugs. The focus should be on improving the five factors—especially the quality of your blood—so your cells have everything they need to heal themselves. When they are healed, they will stop asking for high pressure, and your BP will regulate itself perfectly.

This is the path to a genuine natural remedy. So, my advice is to stop worrying about the numbers on a machine. Instead, focus on nourishing your body, calming your mind, and trusting in the incredible intelligence that knows exactly how to keep you healthy.
