The Invisible Poison in Your Bedroom: How You're Slowly Suffocating Every Night.

We talk endlessly about food. We say "food is medicine," and we worry so much about what we eat for our three meals a day. But have you ever stopped to think about the air you breathe? We breathe for all 24 hours of the day, inhaling about 11,600 litres of air. If food is medicine, then air is life itself.

We have seen how we can digest food in a proper way. Now, we will see how we can "digest" the air properly and mix it into our blood. And the conversation must start in the one room where we spend a third of our lives: the bedroom.

The Airtight Coffin You Sleep In

Most of us, when we go to sleep, close all the doors and windows, making our bedrooms airtight. We do this for three main reasons: we don't want mosquitoes to bite us, we don't want thieves to gain access, and we don't want outsiders to invade our privacy. These reasons seem sensible, but I believe that all the people who block the passage of air in and out of their bedroom will get many diseases.

Let's look at the science of it. A person inhales 8 litres of air every minute. Our lungs take the good things from that air—oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and pranic energy—and mix them into the blood. This life-giving blood is sent to every cell in the body. Each cell uses this energy and, in the process, converts it into waste matter, which comes back to the blood. When this waste-filled blood comes to the lungs, the lungs send it out of our body through the air we exhale.

So, whenever we breathe, we inhale good air and exhale bad air.

Now, imagine four people sleeping in a closed room. At a rate of 8 litres per minute per person, these four people will convert all the good air in that room into bad air in about half an hour. We sleep for about 8 hours every night. This means good air will go into our bodies only for the first half an hour. For the remaining seven and a half hours, we are breathing in the bad air that our own bodies just expelled. Again, and again, and again.

When our body does not get the air energy and nutrients it needs, all our body parts get diseases. If we sleep and breathe bad air for seven and a half hours every night, how can we possibly have good health? No one seems to think about this at all. And for those who say they use a fan, please understand: a fan will only circulate the existing air within the room. It will not convert bad air into good air.

The Mosquito Coil Deception

Now, if just sleeping in a sealed room can cause disease, imagine how much worse it is when we use mosquito coils or liquid repellents. We light these poisons in a closed room and sleep in that toxic fog all night.

A mosquito dies immediately from the poison in the coil because it is a small insect. A man is also a living being; he is just bigger. So, man will also succumb to the same poison in the mosquito coil and die. The only difference is that he will take a few years more to die compared to a mosquito.

Lighting a mosquito coil and inhaling its poisonous fumes is the same as eating the mosquito coil. Using a liquid mosquito repellent is the same as drinking that liquid before you go to sleep. The effects are the same. The bad chemicals burn all night, mix in the air, enter our lungs, and poison our blood. Please, do not use any mosquito repellent in any form. They are deadly poisons. No doctor seems to talk about this, but I believe the basic reason for all lung-related diseases—asthma, TB, wheezing, cold, sneezing, cough—is the fact that we live in rooms without proper air passage and we use these poisons.

Some people tell me they sleep well only when they use a mosquito coil. In fact, the smoke is making you drowsy. It is not a healthy sleep; it is a kind of stupor. And while you are drowsy, the mosquitoes that are not affected by modern coils bite you and suck your blood, and you don't even realize it. It appears that mosquito coils are now good for mosquitoes!

A comparison of a mosquito coil and liquid repellent, both depicted as poison that harms a sleeping person, highlighting their danger.

The Simple, Ancient Solution for Fresh Air

So, what is the solution? If we open a window, fresh air comes in, but so do mosquitoes and thieves, and our privacy is compromised.

There is a very simple solution. You can keep all your doors and windows closed and locked. But, on one side of the wall, about a foot from the ceiling, make a circular opening and fix an exhaust fan to push the air out. On the opposite wall, directly facing the fan, make a similar hole and cover it with a mosquito net.

Now, whatever amount of bad air goes out through the exhaust fan, the same amount of fresh, good air will come inside through the other hole. Bad air is less dense and always tends to move upwards, so it will be efficiently removed. You will always be breathing fresh air near the floor where you sleep. Mosquitoes cannot enter, and no one can peep inside. The cost of this arrangement is far less than what you would spend on ten years of medicine for asthma or wheezing.

Alternatively, if you can keep the windows open, you can simply tie a mosquito net over your bed and sleep inside it. Or, even better, fix mosquito nets directly over your window panels.

In old-fashioned houses, they had these openings called ventilation gaps. Our forefathers called it "Vaasthu Saastraa," which was nothing but a way of ensuring that all the five elements (Pancha Boothas) were balanced in a house. We have thrown this wisdom away, thinking it was superstition, and now we march towards hospitals with many diseases.

The Foundation for All Breathing Exercises

Many people do breathing exercises like Pranayamam or Nadi Suddhi to "digest" the air well. But there will not be much benefit in doing these exercises if the air in our house is not clean and fresh. If we want to derive the maximum benefit, we must first clean the air in the place where we live.

To sum up, there are just two things to remember:

  1. Mosquito coils, mats, and liquids should never be used. They are poison.

  2. We must have a way for fresh air to enter and bad air to exit for all 24 hours in our homes and offices.

If we follow just these two guidelines, the intelligence of our body will take the pranic energy and nutrients from the air, mix them in the blood, and cure our diseases.
